Sites on Pimlico Road
I was walking the other day on Pimlico Road, just few minutes from Sloane Square and Elizabeth street, and I must say there are some nice stores gaining up space. The road has recently become famous because of the design and home stores opening up, bringing exclusive designers. On the road as well we find R Chocolate boutique, with a great selection of desserts and chocolate; so tasty. They also have chocolate inspired afternoon tea.
Across of R Chocolate there is a little flower shop (even sells little pots of flowers, very convenient). I had lunch further down in The Orange, a local gastropub and hotel, much larger inside than you would expect, that serves British cuisine with international influences. There was a great, interesting variety of plates to choose from, but I went for manouri cheese with figs, where the sauce wasn't the best match for the cheese, and chicken with purple potatoes. The chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy, complemented by the sauce, the jus and the puree of purple potatoes, which was quite interesting to try. That's not all, the barman was doing a great job preparing cocktails in the bar, like the Orange Bloody Mary, Bellini and a twisted Mojito. The place also does roasts on Sundays, which I will definitely go again to try them. The atmosphere was cool too, simple and contemporary, with compliments of wood.
Also on Pimlico Road there is No11 Pimlico Rd, another type of gastropub and hotel. I visited for brunch, for an alternative place in the neighbourhood for my favourite meal, and I found it quite good. Even though I wouldn't necessarily list it on my favourites, I would definitely go again. (I am planning to post a Top 5 of brunch places when I try few more I have in mind and can make my final decision). I loved the atmosphere, cause there was a lot of light coming in and a young crowd as clientele.
Another favourite is La Poule au Pot, the recently opened French bistro with outside seating. One of the few authentic french bistros in London, is catered by French staff and, as more ideal for night, has a romantic, candle light atmosphere. The menu not only contains the classics, but has also a selection of game, very tasty honestly, which has become famous for.
The famous Daylesford has also a branch there, which has become a statement in the area. It has a large selection of organic shopping and has also a seating area outside where they serve lunch/brunch and coffee. The seating space inside is smaller and is mostly booths.
Finally, in the neighbourhood also Hunan, a Chinese restaurant, which I heard is good, but I haven't tried yet.
