Kimolos, Greece
Kimolos is a small island near Milos; very small but very unique. Its a pit stop for yachts as it has great waters for swimming and lovely tavernas to eat, but it is also a destination for those looking for some relaxation and authenticity. It is an easy 2-3 day trip, convenient to move around and with a buzzy, fun Chora. A must do from there is a boat trip to the island of Polyaigos, which is unpopulated but has some of the best beaches in the Cyclades.
Restaurants:
To Kyma (=The Wave): seafood tavern in the main port, for lunch or dinner. Try fresh caught grilled fish.
Auli tou Samplou:go Chora, here for dinner, try local Mezedes, book a table. My favourite in the island.
Stou Fragouli : Chora, for brunch/breakfast, has a hidden little courtyard.
Palaia Agora: for souvlaki in the Chora
Kali Kardia (Boxoris): Chora, for mezedes, for dinner
Prasonisi restaurant: for amazing seafood near the beach of Prasonisi. If busy season better to book.
Kalamitsi tavern or Sardis: near the Kalamitsi beach for lunch, seafood
Beaches:
Prasa (Agios Georgios beach or Prasonisi): this one is the best, with blue waters, a small beach bar and sunbeds if you want to rent for the day. You have to book here for sunbeds, has limited capacity.
Kalamitsi beach: easy access especially for families, with a tavern on the beach (Kalamitsi tavern).
Dekas beach: unorganised beach
Mavrospilia beach: unorganised beach, has a beach bar there, ideal also for sunset
Poliaigos tours: rent a private boar or book with the shared boat (cheaper) to tour the island of Poliaigos nearby, and stop to swim in different amazing blue water beaches. Usually the shared boat offers lunch and drinks. There are now different companies that do the tours.
Other things:
Stavento Ice cream: best ice cream in the island
Chora fournos (Paradosiakos): hidden inside the maze of Chora, near the Stavento ice cream place, it offers great variety of local pies (cheese pies etc) and sandwiches.
For bars there is a variety like Bratsera, Agora, H sinantisi (traditional for rakomelo etc), Stavento etc.
In the port Postali, near the boats, has coffee and snacks and also To Raventi for coffee and sweets.
